Curriculum

Music for Little Mozarts
These are beginner level books for kids 5-10. The lesson and recital books include fun stories that go along with the lessons, making it a more enjoyable lesson for the younger student. Each level (1-4) has a set of flashcards and a workbook that goes along with it. Students are required to have both, as they greatly enhance learning.

Other accessories (stuffed animals of the main characters in these books) can be purchased.

If a student decides that he/she is too old for stories, then I will put them in a different curriculum.

Piano Adventures
For the older or more serious student. Students are required to purchase the lesson, technique and theory book. Other books in the series (recital, performance, popular) may be purchased if desired. There are 10 levels ranging from Primer to Level 5.

There is some overlap of things taught in the later Music for Little Mozarts books and the beginning Piano Adventures. Students will be placed in the Piano Adventures book necessary for their level.

Scales
When the student reaches Piano Adventures Level 2a, they will begin their studies in scales. Scales are essential for building arm/wrist/hand strength and promote good fingerings.

Hanon: The Virtuoso Pianist
By Piano Adventures Level 2b or 3a (this will vary depending on the student), students will begin to go through the exercises in the Hanon: The Virtuoso Pianist book. These exercises also help with fingerings and building strength.

Mastering the Piano Series
There are 7 books in this classical series. Students will start level 1 in Piano Adventures 1a or 1b (again, this depends on the student). Classical songs are a great basic for students to have, as well as fun to play.

Students are allowed to work up pieces other than what is listed here, providing they continue to practice their assignments week-to-week.
